For the nights – or days – when only dining out in eco style will do, why not nip down to where the hip ones hang (that's east London to you dear reader) and try the authentic British dishes on offer at A Little of What You Fancy?
The brainchild of Elaine Chalmers and Lola Coone, this little restaurant on Kingsland Road offers breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. Sink your chompers into scrumptious fare including chestnut and chorizo soup, seared scallops with parma ham, paprika and smoked parmesan, and organic roast rainbow trout with pink fir apple potatoes and basil dressing, as well as a varied wine list and a great selection of sweet treats to round off the meal.
And if you are planning a private soiree with a difference, the ALOWYF team can also provide canapés, lunch and dinner catering.
So what makes this nosh green and guilt-free? Well, Lola and Elaine hope to be able to trace the history of everything they serve and utilise in the restaurant, from tea towels to wine. In fact, the majority of the ingredients they use are supplied by local growers and providers, with some even coming from nearby gardens.
We suspect this eco-eatery has one petite, little carbon footprint. With teeny, tiny organic shoes to match.
A Little of What you Fancy, 464 Kingsland Road, London E8 4AE.
